Hospitals of Hope’s mission is to show Christ’s love by healing bodies and souls. We do this by providing medical care to children who live on the street in Bolivia, by distributing crutches to the disabled in Liberia, and by providing a much-needed medical facility to earthquake victims in Haiti.
We believe that there are some needs so desperate that they must be met before people can hear the message of Christ's love. In this, we believe we follow the example set by Christ, who healed the sick both physically and spiritually. To us, the business of healing bodies is inseperable from the business of healing souls.
As we do this, we strive to be good stewards of the funds we’ve been entrusted with, ensuring that we make the maximum possible impact. In 2008, 88% of funds contributed went directly toward program costs, and we constantly work to raise this percentage. For more information, check out our 2008 Annual Report (PDF).
In February, I abandoned my comfortable existence as a fourth year medical student in North Carolina, and traveled to Bolivia, South America for a short term mission trip.
