with the proposed dates for your trip. Trip lengths and costs for other locations are listed on the trip schedule.
To estimate the cost of your trip to Bolivia, please consider the following expenses:
| Application Fee - | $ 125 |
| Bolivian Visa | $ 135 |
| International Airfare - | $ 900-1200 |
| Domestic Flights - | $ 120 |
| Food/Lodging/Transportation - | $ 40/day |
| Translator - (may be shared by a group; should only be necessary 4 hours daily) |
$ 2/hour |
The $ 40 per day fee is pro-rated and is based on the actual cost of operating the guesthouse annually. The fee helps to cover food, housing, guesthouse hosting, and transportation costs that are incurred by volunteers during their stay at Hospitals of Hope, Bolivia. During the summer months the Bolivia guesthouse has many volunteers, but the other months may have only a few or none. Nevertheless, to maintain the guesthouse and services provided to the volunteers, we must charge enough to cover the operating cost 365 days a year. This fee is considerably lower than that charged by many organizations.
In addition, any excess from the fees charged to volunteers helps to defray the costs of operating Hospitals of Hope, Bolivia during the year—to support the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital. If you have any questions regarding trip costs, please contact

In February, I abandoned my comfortable existence as a fourth year medical student in North Carolina, and traveled to Bolivia, South America for a short term mission trip.
